Adding a youtube subscribe link

We have some difficulty with adding a youtube subscribe link, using the username as described in many videos and blogs.
Our youtube account was quiet new and when we attempted to add a subscriber link to one of the videos in the form of a annotation and add a link with our user name, that failed. We tried our channel ID instead and that worked, so this vlog explains the steps we made to get a working youtube subscriber link.
